Third Sector Strategic Forum
The West Midlands Third Sector Strategic Forum has been set up to influence policy and decision-making in the West Midlands for the benefit of the third sector. The Forum is made up of 17 elected representatives from across the West Midlands whose priority for the first year will be to influence decisions made by the new Joint Strategy & Investment Board.
A 5 month consultation process concluded that forum membership would be determined by election. RAWM managed the process in its role as accountable body for the Forum. We used Ning and Ballotbin together with traditional communications methods. We emphasized the need for candidates to have skills and experience of participating in strategic policy work and made it clear that the 17 elected people will work as a collective body, gathering and expressing the diverse voices of the sector. The first forum meeting was in March 2010 and regular meetings have taken place through the year.
