The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel are looking for two committed and energetic people to join them.

• Do you have a genuine interest in policing?
• Can you be an independent voice alongside elected councillors, to provide constructive challenge to the Police and Crime Commissioner?
• Are you willing to listen to the views of all sections of our local communities?

The way police is governed is changing. People in the West Midlands will be electing its first Police and Crime Commissioner on the 15 November. He or she will be responsible for setting the priorities and resources for West Midlands Police, as well as supporting broader community safety activities across the region.

The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel has been established to scrutinise the Commissioner’s work. It needs to recruit two members from the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start of new arrangements for reducing crime and disorder and help shape the future of policing in the West Midlands.

If appointed, you will serve on the Panel from October 2012 until April 2016 and work alongside councillors from each of the seven local authorities in the force area - Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

To apply you will need to be: at least 18 years old, live or work within the West Midlands force area; and be able to attend at least 6 meetings a year during the normal working day, across the West Midlands.
