Recruitment for the EA appointed members posts opened on 5th March 2012 and applications need to be received by Thursday 5 April 2012 and we are keen to hear from environmental enthusiasts wanting to join one of our RFCCs.

The RFCCs play an important role in deciding local priorities, raising local levies and approving work.  Committee members also have a critical role in supporting the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities, by working with communities and other partners, to identify and bring in funding. These two committees will replace the former Severn Trent Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.

The committees need a balance of skills, knowledge and experience across their membership such as an understanding of surface water flooding; agriculture, farming and land management; financial experience; communications and experience of local community flood forums or action groups. They are especially interested in identifying applicants with expertise in nature conservation and with coastal or estuarial experience. They are also very keen to take this opportunity to develop committees that better reflect the wonderful diversity of the Midlands population.
