The Office for Civil Society is to publish a green paper suggesting ways in which public service commissioning could be reformed to benefit the voluntary sector.

The paper, to be published shortly, will propose ways to make it easier for charities and voluntary sector groups to bid to deliver public services. An online public consultation on the proposals will be completed by the end of the year.

In a statement, Nick Hurd, the Minister for Civil Society, said: "The commissioning green paper will kick-start a radical shift in public service contracting so only the most innovative approaches win through.
