The Charity Commission has concluded the first stage of their strategic review and have today set out key regulatory priorities for the next four years and published the responses from the public consultation.

The public and the charity sector have warmly endorsed the critical role it plays in protecting and serving the public interest in charity and in holding charities accountable for the privileges of charitable status. They also endorse the commission's general approach and recognise improved effectiveness.

There is also strong support for a clearer focus on the core regulatory role, and on doing what only the commission can do.

All the material from the consultation, including a summary of responses and copies of the written submissions, will be published on the commission's strategic review website at http://charitycommissionreview.blogspot.com. Comments are welcome and you can continue to post on the site or email: strategicreview@charitycommission.gsi.gov.uk.
