The Carers’ Advice & Resource Establishment, Sandwell (CARES) - Recruitment a Carer Support and Development Worker
25.9 hours per week (0.7 full time equivalent)
APT&C Scale 6 Pt. 26 – £23,166 p.a. (pro rata – paid monthly)
Fixed Term – to 31 December 2018 (subject to funding)
CARER was established in 1986 to provide information and advice to carers and the people they care for within the borough of Sandwell.
Working with other members of CARES’ Staff Team the successful applicant will be required:-
To develop and provide a pilot Carer Information and Support Service for adult carers of patients of Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals Trust in both acute and community settings.
To undertake work with SWBHT staff and volunteers, both clinical and non-clinical, in acute settings and with Sandwell SWBHT staff, volunteers and patients in community locations to help them identify and offer support to carers within the communities of Sandwell and West Birmingham.
You must have the ability to listen effectively to and understand the needs of carers and to respond to their needs and concerns. An appropriate knowledge and experience of providing emotional and social support to carers, relevant knowledge and experience of NHS Hospitals and Secondary Care, Primary Care settings, LA Social Care and the voluntary sector is required. You should be able to manage effectively an individual caseload and be familiar with the development and operation of referral protocols, have an understanding of Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding policy and practice, and be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
A valid UK driving licence and daily access to a motor vehicle will be required to undertake the duties associated with this post.
