Assistant Police and Crime Commissioners and Non-Executive Board Members
David Jamieson, newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands is seeking to appoint a Strategic Policing and Crime Board to support him in his work.
The Commissioner has the challenging role of ensuring that the 2.74 million people of the West Midlands are served by an efficient and effective police force. The Force is one of the largest in the country with a budget in excess of £540m and around 6,900 police officers and 3000 police staff headed by the Chief Constable, Mr David Thompson.
The Strategic Policing and Crime Board will ensure that the Commissioner is able to effectively engage and represent all areas of the West Midlands and will support the Commissioner in his role of ensuring an efficient and effective police service for the West Midlands through the setting of the strategic direction for the Force and holding the Chief Constable to account for the exercise of his functions.
Applications are welcomed from people interested in becoming one of two Assistant Police and Crime Commissioners to support the Commissioner generally in the exercise of the PCC’s statutory functions, or one of six Non- Executive Board Members to contribute to the work of the Strategic Policing and Crime Board. Both roles will be offered as contracts for services on a 12 month basis, with potential for annual renewal.
