UpRising Social Hackathon

Sat, 29/03/2014 - 09:30 - 18:00

Bringing together young people with a passion for social issues in Birmingham

UpRising Social Hackathons bring together young people with a passion for social issues in Birmingham. You'll work in teams to design a project to tackle an issue you care about, and join drop-in workshops to help you deliver your project.

You can bring a group of friends and work together on your project, or register as an individual or pair. If you've already got ideas, why not tweet us and we'll introduce you to like-minded people!

UpRising alumni will be on hand to help you design your project and share their experiences of social action campaigns they created – ranging from foodbanks to working with the Job Centre to tackle youth unemployment. You'll get the opportunity to talk to industry experts, and have an enjoyable day meeting new people in a relaxed environment.

UpRising's Social Hackathon is free to attend and lunch is provided.

If you have a laptop or tablet you can bring with you, please do. You'll be using them to research ideas, build your website or write your project's mission statement!
