ESF Community Grants support a range of activities aimed at assisting the disadvantaged or excluded, move closer to the labour market by improving access to mainstream ESF and domestic employment and skills provision. Activities support participants from the target groups of the Operational Programme but because the focus is on individuals who have difficulty in accessing ESF or mainstream provision outcomes are more likely to be based on progression rather than achievement of jobs and qualifications.

Community Grants of up to £12,000 each are distributed from a Grant Co-Ordinating body to small Third Sector organisations with less than £100,000 turnover per annum.

The West Midlands Council and Skills Funding Agency have commissioned an evaluation study of the impact of the Community Grants for the programme 2007-2010 [1.11mB, PDF].

There is currently a tendering round for the management of the Community Grants for the second part of the programme 2011-2013, if you would any further information on this please contact WMEN.
